Phoenix VA Hosts 4th Annual Caregiver’s Summit
The Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System (PVAHCS) hosted its 4th Annual Care Giver Summit at the 32nd Street outpatient clinic, May 10.
he goal of the summit was explaining the Whole Health concept, and how health care providers are implementing the concept in practice. Additionally, stakeholders had the chance to meet staff members of (PVAHCS) for the first time, as the last few summits were held online due to COVID restrictions.
“There’s something special about sitting together and talking and putting faces with names,” said Dr. Leslie Lockridge, Associate Director of Patient Care Service at the Phoenix VA. “We’re really proud of what we do here at the Phoenix VA and we’re really happy to have such a great community and such great support. I appreciate each and every one of you.”
Some of the stakeholders in attendance were the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Alzheimer’s Association, Area Association on Aging, and the American Parkinson’s Disease association.
“So many people and agencies are interacting with caregivers and Veterans that maybe aren’t yet attached to the caregiver support program at the Phoenix VA,” said Amanda Mason, Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care System General Support Services Program Coordinator. “So, if we can spread the information and everybody knows about different resources then we can get as much information out as we possibly can. We hope that this summit you will learn a little bit more of what we do, how we can help bring some of these things together for you,” said Mason. “And forge some really great collaborative partnerships out of it.”
