VA Portland Health Care System named Center of Innovation by Health Systems Research, awarded ACEP certification for geriatric care

Portland , OR — PORTLAND, Ore.– The Portland Health Care System has been recognized by the American College of Emergency Physicians by achieving Level-3 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation.
This AECP accreditation furthers the VA’s mission to provide the best care possible to our nation’s Veterans and highlights VA Portland’s commitment to improving and enhancing care to our older Veterans.
VA Portland Health Care System was also recently approved by the VA Health Systems Research for Centers of Innovation (COIN) for renewed funding for FY25. COINs from across the U.S. support collaborative, multi-site research, QUERI, and VA operations partner-focused initiatives.
The VA looks forward to the continued efforts of our national network of COINs to support innovative research that advances our understanding and improvement of VA health care that impacts Veteran health.
“We are excited to recognize both VA Portland and VA Seattle as ongoing COINs, which continues our critical VA partnerships throughout the Pacific Northwest,” said Dr. Teresa Boyd, Network Director for the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 20). “This ongoing designation helps to further enhance the effectiveness of the VA’s research initiatives and leverage local expertise and resources in support of Veteran health.”
