In September 2024, Mr. Wood was appointed Interim Director of the Portland VA Medical Center.

Prior to this assignment Mr. Wood was the Director of the Boise VA Medical Center since May of 2012, and before that he served as Director for VAMCs in both Butler Pennsylvania and Bath, New York. In addition, he has served as the Chief Network Information Officer in VA Healthcare Network Upstate New York and as the Public Affairs/Planner in El Paso, TX. 

He has been employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs since 1991. 

He received a Masters of Health Administration degree from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Brigham Young University.  In March of 2005, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from BYU Idaho. 

Mr. Wood has also been on several details to Central Office and has achieved the status of a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
