Care for the Caregivers: VA Providence's Annual Summit Puts Support First!
On September 13, 2024, the VA Providence Caregiver Support Program (CSP) hosted its Annual Caregiver Summit at the John H. Harwood Research Center.
The CSP is the primary VA program providing support and services for caregivers of Veterans with a key focus on improving their quality of life. The mission of CSP is to promote the health and well-being of caregivers who care for our nations Veterans, through education, resources, support and services.
The CSP Summit affords a network of VA staff, community agencies and organizations to take the time and space to continue to build a strong network of support for our Caregivers. This year’s theme was “Beyond the Caregiving Role: Seeing the “Whole” Caregiver.
Presentations were provided on Benefits for Respite, Spirituality in Caregiving and Whole Health Practices. Attendees were subsequently invited to participate in breakout sessions, with the opportunity to connect with each agency/program in attendance. Through presentations and breakout sessions, attendees were afforded the opportunity to identify gaps, generate connections and explore topics related to providing enhanced supports and services to coalitions, fostering increased awareness to aide a caregiver throughout their unique journey.
Recognition is extended CSP staff, Kimberly Cross, LICSW, Katherine Tsamourtzis, LICSW and Erin Butler, LICSW for planning and organizing this year's event. Appreciation and gratitude is also extended to Chaplain Alex and Micaela Costa, LICSW; both of whom offered presentations that were informative, engaging and well received by the attendees.
