By Justyn Charon, Public Affairs Specialist
On August 26, Veterans gathered in the Nutrition Department’s Healthy Teaching Kitchen for Smart Shopping: Cost-Friendly Grocery Tips for Veterans.
The interactive class helped Veterans sharpen their skills at the grocery store with practical lessons on how to read nutrition labels, make cost-effective choices, and identify affordable healthy foods. Participants learned strategies for navigating aisles to avoid common pitfalls and ensure a balanced cart that supports long-term health. The session also provided budget-friendly meal planning ideas, giving Veterans the confidence to shop smarter and stretch their dollars without sacrificing nutrition.
