VA Providence’s Women Veterans Program hosted an inspiring evening on Oct. 15 at Downey Weaver American Legion Post 34 in Charlestown, bringing together Women Veterans from across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

The event served as both a social gathering and a resource fair, designed to strengthen community connections and promote awareness of programs available to Women Veterans.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet representatives from VA Providence Enrollment and Eligibility and the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, all dedicated to ensuring Women Veterans have access to the care and benefits they deserve. The event featured light refreshments and meaningful conversations, with many attendees sharing personal stories of service and perseverance.

Joanne Barrett, Women Veterans Program Manager, emphasized that events like this are vital to ensuring Women Veterans feel seen, heard, and supported:

“Our Women Veterans have unique experiences and needs. These gatherings provide the space to connect, share, and build trust with VA and one another.”
