Rhode Island FC’s Clay Holstad, Amos Shapiro Thompson, and Rio Hope-Gund visited VA Providence for a transformative event centered on listening and connection.

Players met with Veterans to hear their stories of service and health care, and also sat down with VA Providence Mental Health providers to better understand how VA supports Veterans facing challenges such as PTSD, depression, and reintegration.

The RIFC players shared their commitment to honoring Veterans through community engagement and lasting partnerships. Their reactions said it all: “That was amazing,” “Thank you so much for making that happen, that was awesome,” and “Wow, I had no idea—I want to come back. This was so impactful.”

At VA Providence, these moments affirm why we do what we do—bringing Veterans, staff, and community together in support of those who served.
