Semper Fidelis – Celebrating 250 Years of the U.S. Marine Corps

By Justyn Charon, Public Affairs Specialist
VA Providence proudly celebrated the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps on November 10, honoring two and a half centuries of courage, honor, and unwavering service.
Founded in 1775, the Corps has stood as a symbol of readiness and loyalty—traits that continue to inspire both Marines and the communities they protect.
Director Lawrence Connell, a retired Army Colonel, recognized Marine Corps Veterans among VA Providence staff and patients, reflecting on the shared values that unite all branches of service.
From the Revolutionary War to today’s global missions, Marines have embodied the phrase Semper Fidelis—always faithful—to their country and their brothers and sisters in arms.
