She Served, She Deserves: Honoring Women Veterans in Charlestown

By Justyn Charon, Public Affairs Specialist
On Tuesday, July 29, VA Providence proudly hosted She Served, She Deserves—a special evening dedicated to celebrating the service of women Veterans and ensuring they have access to the benefits they’ve earned.
Held at the Downey Weaver American Legion Post 34 in Charlestown, R.I., the event created a welcoming space for women Veterans of all eras to connect, ask questions, and begin or continue their VA journey.
Representatives from VA Enrollment and Eligibility, the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), and VA Suicide Prevention were on hand to provide personalized guidance, answer questions, and help attendees navigate the path to care, compensation, and support.
Whether newly separated or decades out of uniform, attendees were reminded: You served—and you deserve care, recognition, and connection.
Special thanks to VA Providence’s Kim Ferrante and Joanne Barrett for their tireless work in organizing this impactful event, and to all the women Veterans who joined us for an empowering and inspiring evening.
