Roseburg, OR (August 1, 2025) -- The Department of Veterans Affairs is excited to announce a significant update to its online sign-in process, aimed at providing a simpler and more secure experience for Veterans and beneficiaries. Starting in 2025, VA websites and apps will require users to sign in using either a Login.gov or ID.me account.
Key Changes:
- Transition Timeline: After January 31, 2025, My HealtheVet user IDs and passwords will no longer be accepted. By September 30, 2025, DS Logon usernames and passwords will also be phased out.
- Enhanced Security: Both Login.gov and ID.me accounts include multifactor authentication (MFA) to ensure the highest level of security for users.
- Continued Access: Veterans will retain access to all their information and services through these new sign-in options. No stored information will be lost during the transition.
Action Required: Veterans are encouraged to create either a Login.gov or ID.me account now, if they do not already have one, to familiarize themselves with the new system before the transition is complete. Detailed instructions and support are available on the VA website.
