Roseburg, OR -- Beginning June 2023, Roseburg VA Health Care System (RVAHCS) Office of Community Care will begin offering additional community care programs and non-traditional care to area Veterans who can benefit greatly from added specialty care services. Some services include chiropractic care, acupuncture, and massage therapy, all provided by non-VA providers in the VA Community Care Network (CCN). Below you will find information about additional holistic and non-traditional care opportunities.
Whole Health: Whole Health is a cutting-edge approach to health care that supports your well-being, and centers around what matters to you, rather than what is the matter with you. Your health team will get to know you as a person before ever working with you directly to develop a personalized health plan based on your values, needs, and goals.
Mindfulness Programs: The Mindfulness program includes Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and is focused on improving the health and well-being of Veterans and staff through promoting evidence-based mindfulness training across RVAHCS.
Active Movement Classes: RVAHCS offers several Whole Health related, active movement classes in-person and virtually. Some programs include Tai Chi/Qigong offered virtually, Yoga at Eugene VA Health Care Center (HCC), an exercise gym at Roseburg VA Medical Center (RVAMC), and Veteran swim classes in North Bend.
Nutrition Classes: VA Whole Health and MOVE! Dietitians offer virtual nutrition classes to help you achieve your health goals. Virtual appointments make VA health care more convenient for you, other Veterans, and their caregivers. They enable you to meet with your care team quickly and easily through secure and private videoconferencing sessions. You can attend nutrition classes in a virtual medical room using the camera on your phone, computer, or tablet. There are no copays for virtual appointments.
Weight Management: Weight management classes and individual MOVE! sessions can help you meet your weight loss and health goals.
Interventional Pain: RVAHCS offers Interventional Pain services through face-to-face appointments at RVAMC and Eugene HCC, and medication management via telehealth services.
To ensure Veterans receive appropriate, high-quality care in the community, patients must understand that RVAHCS follows VA guidance for the number of care visits and respective time frames. These numbers vary depending on the nature of the service provided, however, VA can authorize additional care visits in certain circumstances. The key takeaway is, per VA guidance, the time frame of the authorization must expire before the VA will review and consider approving additional visits.
If you have questions regarding authorizations, please contact your VA care team or the RVAHCS Community Care Team at 541-440-1296.
