VA Salt Lake City Health Care System in Dire Need of Volunteer Drivers
PRESS RELEASE
November 12, 2024
Salt Lake City , UT — VA Salt Lake City Health Care System and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Transportation Network are in critical need of volunteer drivers residing throughout the Intermountain West.
The DAV Transportation Network is a courtesy service providing free transportation to and from VA medical appointments for Veterans with no other means of transportation. This program assists many disabled Veterans who live on small, fixed incomes, often many miles from the nearest VA medical center or clinic. But the program would not be possible without dedicated volunteer drivers. Right now, the demand for volunteers is dire in Utah, Northeast Nevada and Southeast Idaho.
What: Come take a short ride in a DAV vehicle, learn about this invaluable program and how it helps our disabled Veterans.
Who: Speak to a local volunteer driver, Veteran who depends on the program, DAV spokesperson, and the VA Salt Lake City transportation manager.
When: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 at 12:30 p.m.
Where: George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center, 500 South Foothill Drive, Salt Lake City
The VA Salt Lake City Health Care System consists of the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City and 10 community clinics across Utah, Idaho and Nevada. We provide health care to over 70,000 eligible Veterans across 125,000 square miles of the Intermountain West.
