Drive-thru Vaccine Clinic kicks off Sept. 19

Woman giving man a vaccination

Starting Monday, September 19 and lasting through November 10, the George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center in Salt Lake City will operate a drive-thru vaccination clinic.

The drive-thru clinic will offer the new bivalent COVID-19 booster to all Veterans and the flu vaccine for Veterans 65 and older. Due to a manufacturing issue, we are currently not offering the flu vaccine to Veterans younger than 65. When the vaccine is available for these Veterans, we will let you know.

The booster will provide better protection against COVID-19, and the flu vaccine will fight the virus and leave you less likely to spread flu to others. Staying healthy reduces unwanted trips to the medical center and community clinics.

What: Drive-thru Vaccination Clinic

When:  10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday (except for holidays)

Who: COVID Booster available to all Veterans. Flu vaccine available to Veterans 65 and older who are enrolled in VA healthcare.

Where: Building 2, George E. Wahlen VA Medical Center, Salt Lake City (Click here for campus map)

Enter the main medical center campus in Salt Lake City at Mario Cappechi Drive, take the first right on Bennion Drive, and follow the signs.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration authorized this updated COVID-19 vaccine to better protect against the Omicron variant. Adults age 18 and older are able to get this booster dose if they have received their primary COVID vaccine and it’s been at least 2 months since their last COVID vaccine.

If you are a patient at one of our community clinics, please call your clinic for vaccination details.

If you would like to get your COVID-19 booster or your flu vaccine in the community, visit https://www.vaccines.gov/ for the booster and https://www.va.gov/find-locations for the flu shot.
