Job of the Week | Supply Technicians
Supply Technicians in Medical Supply Distribution provide the inpatient units, clinics, operating rooms and other medical center facilities with the necessary supplies for daily healthcare operations.
They play a vital role in the care of our Veterans, ensuring providers have the equipment they need for patient appointments.
“If a provider does not have the necessary equipment they need for a procedure, it slows down the whole process,” said Amber Hummer, VA Salt Lake City Health Care System supply technician.
Amber has worked for Medical Supply Distribution for a year. She was working for another federal agency but didn’t feel like she was making a difference. She has not felt that way since joining the logistics team at VA Salt Lake City—she sees the difference she is making in the faces of our Veterans. Both of her parents are Veterans, and that serves as a constant motivator as she accomplishes her daily tasks of pulling items and getting them ready for providers.
“I want our Veterans to have the best care possible, and you can’t have the best care possible, if you don’t have the needed supplies,” Amber said.
