Sheilah Cornelio, MSN, RN, became Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS)/Nurse Executive on March 10, 2024.
Sheilah was the Acting Deputy ADPCS/Nurse Executive within San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) since January 14, 2024. Most recently, she held the role of Chief Nurse of Critical Care Services. Ms. Cornelio served as the Chief Nurse of Hospital Care Service in 2018, Community Living Center Chief in 2020, and in management within Critical Care Services since 2022.
She is a big picture thinker with an innovative mindset and creative eye for detail. Her legacy is to aspire to create performance outcomes, organizational transformation, innovation, and talent development. Her vision as Deputy ADPCS/Nurse Executive includes the establishment of successful ideas and methods that will further our highest values as a health care organization and creating the long-term framework to hire and train the employees who will bring SFVAHCS into the future.
For 19 years, she has worked on behalf of Veterans and spent the last 9 years working at San Francisco VA Health Care System in leadership positions.
Sheilah Cornelio grew up in the Philippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Riverside College in Bacolod City, Philippines. She moved to the United States where she obtained her Master of Science in Nursing, Clinical Nurse Leader from Saint Xavier University, Chicago, IL. After moving to San Francisco and working as a staff nurse in the Intensive Care Unit then a nurse manager in the Transitional Care Unit, she transitioned to nursing leadership.
