Kristin Pressly Mills, Portfolio Manager

Picture of Kristin PresslyKristin Pressly Mills spent the Fall, 2020 with the Secretary’s Center for Strategic Partnerships (SCSP) as a detail and helped to broaden public knowledge about the impact partnerships and industry support have on our nation’s Veterans who receive care at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). She brought valuable expertise in public affairs, outreach and strategic engagement to the Center. Her most notable work was in facilitating the development of the VA New England Center for Innovation Excellence (NECIE), furthering the opportunity for public-private partnerships to transform care and service for our nation’s Veterans.

Kristin proudly began her career with VA in 1997 at the VA Manchester Healthcare System. With more than 20 years in the public sector, she is a seasoned advisor with experience at all levels of the organization.

Her tenure of service at the medical center is attributed to an unprecedented organizational turnaround and regained positive public perception following a provider-whistleblower’s report of widespread substandard care. As an advisor, she navigated newly appointed leadership to address current and emerging Veteran and workforce needs. She has in-depth expertise in crisis communication and proven results in the area of sustaining organizationally influential relationships.

Kristin’s communication focus yields a greater Veteran experience, just culture advancement, enhanced and sustained stakeholder engagement and organizational growth. She directed communications for the first VHA health care system’s journey in becoming a High Reliability Organization (HRO) and is responsible for several regional best practices.

Her professional philosophy is founded on personal integrity, interprofessional collaboration, continuous process improvement and hard work. Her Veteran-centric approach to carrying out VA’s organizational mission embraces her passion to best serve our nation’s Veterans.

Kristin is the mother of five boys, two of whom are Navy and Air Force officers, she is the sister of an Army Veteran and daughter of a retired registered VA nurse who dedicated her life’s work to ensuring the wellness of Veterans.
