October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month ... so why are we having an event in January?
Not Just in October is a series, hosted by the Sheridan VA Relationship Health and Safety Clinic, dedicated to providing survivors with space to share their experiences and provide education to others. We believe that it is only by listening to those with lived experience that we can begin to accurately address needs within our communities. Be a part of the change and join us Not Just in October, but throughout the year.
Take part in our next event:
January 30, 2025
12:00 – 1:30pm
Join us live in the Sheridan VA Auditorium (Bldg. 61) or virtually via Microsoft Teams (link information below.)
CEUs are provided for clinical staff.
We'll hear from EL DuBois, domestic violence survivor & activist
Erica "EL" DuBois was born and raised in Texas where she still lives. She is Native American and extremely proud of her roots. Erica's personal experiences with domestic violence and intimate terrorism have made her an activist, advocate, and supporter of many causes facing victims of any harassment or abuse. It is her greatest wish that no one ever suffer the traumas she endured, and that justice is brought for all those who have. These experiences prompted her to start the Twisted Crown Foundation in 2021, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting survivors. In 2023, the Twisted Crown Foundation launched the Healing Initiative Program to help survivors heal through the arts. Erica is also a RAINN Speakers Bureau member, NCADV Speaker, & Advisory Board Member of Hire Survivors Hollywood.
