Wheels of Care: Kerrville VA Medical Center Receives a Generous Donation from the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization known for its commitment to supporting communities, demonstrated its dedication to help serve those in need.
Recently, the Kerrville VA Medical Center received a generous donation from the American Red Cross in the form of a six-seater golf cart. A small handover ceremony was held to celebrate the partnership and shared dedication to serving those who have served our country.
“I am grateful to be a part of this, as this was my first project that I led within my new role in South Texas.” Jennifer Miller, Regional Director for American Red Cross stated during the ceremony. “I am so honored to know that the American Red Cross will be able to help many Veterans here.”
This thoughtful contribution significantly enhances the mobility and comfort of Veterans and their families visiting the medical center. The new golf cart provides convenient transportation around the campus, making it easier and safer for patients, particularly those with mobility challenges, to access various facilities and services. The golf cart provides a reliable and accessible way for Veterans to travel between different departments, reducing the stress and physical strain associated with long walks or waiting for transportation.
With the recent parking lot pavement project in progress at the Kerrville VA, the new addition of the golf cart safely assists with shuttling Veterans and their families to and from their vehicles.
This recent donation of a golf cart may seem like a small gesture, but its impact is profound. For many Veterans, the ability to move around the Kerrville hospital campus with ease will significantly enhance their experience during treatment.
South Texas Veterans Health Care System appreciates the American Red Cross for collaborating with the Center for Development and Civic Engagement on this donation which contributes to enhancing the experience for our Veterans.
