Volunteer or donate

The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System's Voluntary Service Department is proud to offer a variety of programs for volunteers and community partners to engage with our health care network and support Veterans. Through various volunteer programs, donation opportunities and special events, the Voluntary Service Department offers a way for all members of the community to show their support for the Veterans of southeast Louisiana. Our goal is to create meaningful and fun volunteer opportunities that will have a positive and lasting impact on Veterans.

Individual volunteer opportunities

Our medical center offers many exciting opportunities for volunteers to engage with Veterans. Our goal is to create a team of volunteers with meaningful assignments. As the medical center grows, we continue to grow our volunteer program. Some of our newest opportunities include assignments in the Patient Escort Program, Community Living Center, Emergency Room, Pharmacy and as Volunteer Drivers. Volunteer orientations are held twice each month. Please contact 1- extension 62105 or vhanolvoluntaryservice@va.gov for more information or to schedule an orientation.

Corporate, community and group volunteer opportunities

If your group is looking for a one day, quarterly or monthly volunteer activity, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System’s Voluntary Service employees can work with you to create a tailored volunteer program. We’ve worked with diverse groups from across the country and know your group has the passion and talents to “serve those who have served.”  We look forward to working with you on designing a day of service or reoccurring service project for your organization or business.

E-Donate

We are pleased to announce the availability of E-Donate, an online donation option that will provide community members who wish to give back to Veterans at the medical center a simple and safe way to pledge their support to the fund of their choice.  With the click of a mouse, anyone can donate online at any time to give Veterans help that goes beyond their health care. Through E-Donate, donors can select from a number of accounts at the medical center to donate to. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs administrative costs are appropriated so donors can be certain their donations will go directly to the funds and Veteran patients they select.

Accounts currently available to donate to under the “Program for Donation” are listed below:
