Groundbreaking marks new era of care for Yuma Veterans

By Orlando Ford, Public Affairs Specialist
On January 23, the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Yuma VA Outpatient Clinic, a milestone that expands access to high-quality care for Veterans in the region.
“This is more than a building project,” said SAVAHCS Interim Director Maria Nguyen. “We are investing in the future of Veteran health care in Yuma — creating a place of healing and renewal for those who served.”
The clinic is being built in partnership with Onvida Health, the first collaboration of its kind for SAVAHCS. This effort represents more than bricks and mortar — it means dignity, access, and care close to home for Yuma Veterans.
Veterans seated in the first rows reminded everyone why this work matters. Their presence underscored the commitment to service and the responsibility to provide care for those who have served.
Interim VISN 22 Network Director Bryan Arnette added:
“This site will transform into a premier outpatient clinic where Yuma Veterans receive compassionate care from dedicated VA professionals.”
About the New Facility:
- 30,000-square-foot, free-standing clinic
- Estimated completion: Summer 2027
- Services include Physical Therapy, Optometry, Audiology, Women’s Health, and Primary Care
- Part of VA’s nationwide expansion — 25 new clinics opened last year
This project reflects a shared commitment among VA, Onvida Health, and community partners to build a brighter future for Veterans.
