SAVAHCS Eligibility and Enrollment Team Sees Uptick in Veteran Enrollments, Supporting Choose VA Initiative

The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) Eligibility and Enrollment team has announced a 6.54% increase in Veteran enrollments so far in fiscal year 2026. A significant rise that supports the national Choose VA initiative and reaffirms SAVAHCS’s commitment to serving our nation's heroes.

From October 2025 to March 2026, SAVAHCS welcomed 1,433 Veterans into VA health care services, surpassing the 1,345 enrollments recorded during the same period in the previous fiscal year. The growth comes as the Choose VA initiative encourages Veterans to take advantage of the expansive health care offerings within the VA system.

Margarita Rosas, Eligibility and Enrollment Supervisor, credited her team’s dedication for the positive results. “I am proud of the Eligibility & Enrollment Team for their consistent excellence and genuine commitment to serving Veterans,” Rosas said. “Their performance, teamwork, and compassion make a meaningful impact every day and reflect their dedication to the mission of providing exceptional care to those who have served our country.”

Veterans interested in checking their eligibility for VA health care can do so by visiting VA.gov/health-care/eligibility or by contacting their local VA medical center. Eligibility is based on factors including service history, disability status, and income. SAVAHCS staff are also available to provide guidance and answer questions related to the enrollment process at option 4 or extension 16572.

The increase in enrollments demonstrates the effectiveness of SAVAHCS’s outreach efforts and the continued need for accessible, high-quality health care for Veterans in southern Arizona. As the team looks ahead, leaders hope to build on this momentum and further support the Choose VA initiative, ensuring more Veterans are connected with the care and benefits they have earned.
