Congratulations to Army Veteran and VASNHS employee Tami Biniaz for her participation in the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival (NVCAF) in Denver last week! Biniaz, a Credentialing and Privileging Analyst, won first place in the 2023 NVCAF competition for her quilt titled “Rocky Road".

VASNHS has kicked off an Emergency Food Box Program in partnership with Three Square Food Bank. This program is intended to provide food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and other non-perishables for Veterans who are in need.
The VASNHS Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) made its first deployment to a non-VA site at the U.S. Vets center in downtown Las Vegas. Staff from Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team saw over 25 Veterans and provided clinical care to nearly a dozen patients in its first day of operations.

A group of five Veterans get together once a week to roleplay for a few hours, enjoy some breakfast, and share stories with the coaching of Kriston Anderson, Director of the Las Vegas Vet Center and gaming therapy to help them heal.

VA Deputy Secretary Tanya Bradsher visited the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center Friday, March 8. She toured facilities, met staff and Veterans, and addressed local media regarding several topics such as Veteran homelessness.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM), and VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is holding several events across the network informing Veterans about Military Sexual Trauma (MST) programs.

In April, we celebrate Whole Health month. Whole Health is VA’s approach to care that supports health and well-being for Veterans and employees.
VASNHS graduated eight Veterans who engaged in a guided journey to define new aspirations and setting goals to live their best life.

“Exercise, exercise, exercise” was called over the loudspeakers at the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center, before notifying staff that a massive 8.5 earthquake has just hit North Las Vegas and the epicenter in the Aliante Hotel and Casino.

Las Vegas has been chosen as one of six cities of focus for unsheltered Veterans this winter by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
