Dr. Daniel O’Hearn Appointed as Syracuse VA’s Associate Chief of Staff for Acute & Specialty Care

Syracuse , NY — Dr. Daniel O’Hearn is appointed as the new Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center Associate Chief of Staff for Acute and Specialty Care. Dr. O’Hearn brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished educational background to our team.

Board certified in Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine, Dr. O’Hearn’s expertise is well-established. His professional journey includes significant roles at VA Medical Centers in Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, and Northport, NY, where he gained extensive experience in veteran healthcare. Most recently, Dr. O’Hearn served as Professor of Medicine and Director of Pulmonary Services at the University of Virginia, where his leadership and dedication to medical excellence were highly regarded.

Dr. O’Hearn was born in Syracuse, NY, and has an impressive academic and professional trajectory. He completed his Bachelor of Science at Notre Dame University, followed by a Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Dr. O’Hearn pursued his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, and further specialized with fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine at the renowned Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

With 1,700 staff, the Syracuse VA Medical Center is a 189-bed general medical and surgical facility, 30 of which are dedicated to the Spinal Cord Injury unit.  It also comprises a 48-bed Community Living Center and provides comprehensive Primary and Mental health care.
