The Syracuse VA Medical Center officially opened its newly renovated 5A Medical-Surgery Inpatient Unit on Tuesday, December 2, marking a major milestone in ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of care provided to Veterans.

The upgraded unit features 12 single-occupancy rooms designed to offer Veterans increased comfort, privacy, and a more healing-centered environment during their hospital stay. The newly modernized space also supports improved staff workflow and operational efficiency, helping the facility maintain the highest standards of safety and patient care.

Hospital leadership extended their thanks to the teams involved in every phase of the project — from design and construction to preparation, relocation, and activation. Their collective efforts ensured the unit was ready to welcome patients on schedule.

The opening of the 5A unit is part of Syracuse VA’s broader commitment to modernizing care environments and continuing to provide Veterans with the exceptional care they deserve.
