Upon arrival, Yamika Rivers, a Medical Support Assistant (MSA), greeted the Veteran warmly, ensuring their experience started on a positive note.
The Veteran’s medial portion of the visit began with Dr. Nicole Howe, who took the time to listen carefully to the Veteran’s concerns and collected necessary information before proceeding. “Thank you for coming in to see us today,” Dr. Howe said, establishing a caring rapport. “What seems to be the issue and how can we help?”
After assessing the Veteran’s vitals and reviewing the medical history, Dr. Howe called in resident Physician Dr. Alison Kucharik to conduct a thorough chart review. Dr. Kucharik then explained the diagnosis and provided several treatment options.
"After this appointment, you can always call us directly if you experience a flare-up or an issue," Dr. Kucharik advised. "It’s imperative that we see you if you have an episode immediately to assist you and avoid further complications."
Medication was prescribed, and the Veteran was reassured that their care would continue to be a priority. The doctors emphasized their commitment to ensuring prompt and effective treatment for any future concerns, with the option for expedited appointments should any flare-ups occur.
At the conclusion of the appointment, Catherine Bellamy, an Advanced Medical Support Assistant, once again demonstrated professionalism by closing out the visit with a respectful and efficient handoff.
