Please join us in welcoming Joseph “Hunt” Blair as VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) Acting Assistant Director.

Blair served as the TVHS Chief Supply Chain Officer prior to his new role. His previous assignments in VA include interim associate director at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, Ga., TVHS Acting Chief Supply Chain Officer, interim assistant director at Memphis VA Medical Center, acting assistant chief of the TVHS Business Office, executive assistant to the TVHS Executive Director, executive assistant to the TVHS Associate Director, acting public affairs officer, prosthetic representative and prosthetics purchasing agent.

 

Prior to joining VA, Blair served more than 20 years in law enforcement including as a contractor with the Department of Homeland Security and attained a final rank of Captain of Patrol Division in a mid-size department.  Blair is a Veteran having retired after 26 years active and reserve service in the United States Navy, two years of combat deployments to Iraq with the U. S. Marine Corps and attained the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (E9). He ended his career as the Logistics Master Chief for a Naval Construction Regiment responsible for logistics needs of 2,500 naval engineers. 

  

Blair holds a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Homeland Security Resources from American Military University, a master’s level certificate from the Law Enforcement Command Leadership Academy at University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Middle Tennessee State University. He is federally certified in Program and Project Management (FAC-P/PM) and is a VHA Certified Mentor. Blair is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Blair is married with four children and has a small horse farm in Middle Tennessee.
