VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System and Arnold Air Force Base partner to increase primary care access for Veterans and active duty

VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) and Arnold Air Force Base unveiled its newly renovated and expanded Tullahoma VA Clinic located on Arnold Air Force Base Friday, May 29.
Prior to the expansion, the Tullahoma VA Clinic provided care to nearly 1,200 Veterans. Now, thanks to the partnership between TVHS and Arnold Air Force Base, the clinic will provide world-class primary care to approximately 3,000 Veterans along with dozens of active duty Airmen stationed at the base.
“The mission here speaks to my heart as an Air Force Veteran," said Dr. Bridget Brozyna, TVHS Interim Deputy Executive Director. "Today would not have been possible without the vision of both the Air Force and VA thinking of what is possible and how can we serve Veterans' and Airmens' needs."
This VA-DOD facility represents a groundbreaking model for integrated care and collaboration. Brozyna explained the clinic has the potential to serve as a blueprint for future VA-DOD partnerships, enhancing the health care experience for service members as they transition from military service to Veteran status while also expanding access to coordinated VA care sooner.
The Tullahoma VA Clinic first opened in 2000 on Arnold Air Force Base providing primary care services to Veterans in the surrounding area. By 2031, the city is expected to see a 12% increase in Veteran population growth according to VA market data assessments.
"We're excited to share the exceptional health care that we provide our Veterans to our active duty service members. I think it's going to be a good, easy, smoother transition for the active duty service members when they reach retirement," said Dr. Tija McDaniels, primary care provider at the Tullahoma VA Clinic.
"[This] project has been long in the making and represents a profound commitment to those who have served," said Col. Grant Mizell, Arnold Air Force Base Commander.

"The care we provide results in better health care outcomes for Veterans," said Brozyna. "If you're a Veteran in this community and have not started looking at VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System as an option, then you should be doing that. The care we provide really is life changing."
