VA introduces a new clinic in Brownsville and urgent care at the McAllen outpatient clinic

On Thursday, May 1, Dr. Zamora-Legoff, Primary Care Chief at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System, takes a hands-on approach by delivering information about the new services available to Veterans at an outreach event at the Harlingen VA Outpatient Clinic (HOPC).

With two booths of informational health flyers about the new services for Veterans, Dr. Zamora-Legoff, along with other primary care staff (Myra Garcia, Sarah Luna, Krystal Martinez, Crystal Cantu, Israel Valdez, and LVN Neyda Garza), spoke to Veterans at the HOPC waiting room lobby about the new Brownsville VA Outpatient clinic, various pain management options available for care, and the new urgent care clinic co-located at the McAllen VA and more.

Dr. Zamora-Legoff emphasized, “You’ve served our nation with dedication. Now it’s our mission to ensure you receive the best possible healthcare. These new clinics underscore our commitment to your well-being.”

Commute time was one major concern for Veterans in the lower Rio Grande Valley, so VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend HCS at the Brownsville VA Outpatient Clinic opened its doors to provide services closer to home. The new facility offers primary care, social work, mental health, physical therapy, and virtual specialty care services.

Similarly, Veterans now gain easier access to meet urgent care needs in McAllen and the surrounding areas, saving time, eliminating copays, and providing a smooth transition from urgent care to primary care provider by receiving all the care in-house. 

“We do our very best to meet and exceed VA and community standards for urgent care turnarounds that give our patient care providers and clinical staff the best information possible in as little time as possible,” said Dr. Zamora-Legoff.
