Tomah VA Medical Center (VAMC) annual Platoon Run Car and Motorcycle Show
On August 25, 2024, Tomah VA Medical Center (VAMC) held its annual Platoon Run Car and Motorcycle Show at the Tomah VAMC campus grounds.
Over 200 people braved the heat to participant and view 67 cars and trucks and 15 motorcycles. All 82 vehicle participants revved up their engines to support our area Veterans.
The event started with a cruise of cars and motorcycles from Tomah’s Recreational Park to the Tomah VAMC where they parked for the remainder of the event. The national anthem, military honors by the Tomah VFW Post 1382 and a performance of “Taps” was played to kick off the event and then spectators had the opportunity to take a closer look at a variety of impressive cars and motorcycles from antique to new.
Participants also enjoyed live music by Site 7, refreshing root beer floats provided by VA Employee Association, and a variety of food from Joe’s Food Truck. Tomah VA Veteran judges voted for three awards – Best Car, Best Motorcycle and Best of Show. Tomah VA Associate Director Dr. Bryan Prahl presented winning plaques to Roger Bailey's 1964 Pontiac GTO for Best Car, Albert Oberlander's 1995 Stallion V.W. Trike for Best Motorcycle and Jim Sweet's 1974 Chevy Nova for Best of Show.
