Citation Nr: 18158903 Decision Date: 12/19/18 Archive Date: 12/18/18 DOCKET NO. 15-29 780 DATE: December 19, 2018 REMANDED Entitlement to service connection for the cause of the Veteran's death is remanded. REASONS FOR REMAND The Veteran had recognized guerilla service from May 1945 to July 1945 and regular Philippine Army service from August 1945 to March 1946. The Veteran also had active duty service as a Special Philippine Scout from June 1946 to April 1949. The Veteran died in November 1988. The appellant seeks surviving spouse benefits. Entitlement to service connection for the cause of the Veteran's death is remanded. The record indicates that the Veteran served on active duty with the Special Philippine Scouts from July 1946 to December 1949. As the surviving spouse of the Veteran, the appellant would be eligible for compensation if the cause of the Veteran's death was related to his period of service with the Special Philippine Scouts. 38 C.F.R. § 3.340. The record of evidence does not contain any service medical records for that period of service. A remand is necessary to attempt to obtain those records. The matter is REMANDED for the following action: Obtain the Veteran’s complete service medical records for service as a Special Philippine Scout from June 1946 to April 1949. Harvey P.
