Citation Nr: 20006631 Decision Date: 01/28/20 Archive Date: 01/27/20 DOCKET NO. 19-19 732 DATE: January 28, 2020 REMANDED Service connection for peripheral neuropathy is remanded. REASONS FOR REMAND Service connection for peripheral neuropathy is remanded. The Veteran contends that he was exposed to Agent Orange during service, and that this exposure caused or contributed to his post service diagnosis of peripheral neuropathy. He stated that when he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan he worked at a duty station which stored and shipped herbicide agents including Agent Orange. Review of the military personnel records confirms that the Veteran was stationed in Okinawa. A request must then be sent to the Joint Services Records Research Center (JSSRC) for verification of the Veteran’s possible Agent Orange exposure in Okinawa during his period of service. If the JSSRC determines that there is insufficient information to verify the Veteran’s claimed exposure, a formal finding should be made. The matters are REMANDED for the following action: 1. A request must be sent to the JSRRC for verification of the Veteran’s possible Agent Orange exposure in Okinawa during the Veteran’s period of service. If the JSRRC determines that there is insufficient information to verify the Veteran’s claimed exposure, a formal finding should be made in this regard and associated with the record.
