REMANDED

Entitlement to service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder, to include posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and an anxiety disorder, is remanded.

REASONS FOR REMAND

The Veteran served on active duty from July 1973 to October 1973.

This appeal to the Board of Veterans' Appeals (Board) is from a May 2017 rating decision of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Regional Office (RO).

In August 2021, the Veteran testified at a hearing before the undersigned.  A transcript of the hearing is of record.  It was agreed at the hearing that the Veteran would be given 60 days to submit additional evidence; however, no evidence was received.

Entitlement to service connection for an acquired psychiatric disorder, to include PTSD, and generalized anxiety disorder is remanded.

The Veteran was hospitalized at Novant Matthews Hospital for an attempted suicide in September 2014.  See January 2017 CAPRI records.  The RO must assist the Veteran in getting copies of those records.

Ongoing VA mental health treatment records since 2017 must be added to the record.  

The matter is REMANDED for the following action:

1. Associate with the claims file all VA mental health and psychiatric treatment records since 2017.

2. Ask the Veteran to complete and return a medical release to allow VA to obtain the treatment records from Novant Matthews Hospital related to his September 2014 hospitalization.
