ORDER

The claim for service connection for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is dismissed as moot.

FINDING OF FACT

The Regional Office (RO) granted the claim of service connection for PTSD in an April 2019 rating decision.

CONCLUSION OF LAW

The criteria for dismissal of service connection for PTSD have been met.  See Grantham v. Brown, 114 F.3d 1156, 1158-59 (Fed. Cir. 1997).

REASONS AND BASES FOR FINDING AND CONCLUSION

The Veteran served on active duty in the U.S. Army from October 1968 to May 1970. 

This matter comes before the Board of Veterans' Appeals (Board) from an April 2010 rating decision from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Regional Office (RO), which, inter alia, granted service connection for PTSD.

The claim for service connection for PTSD is dismissed as moot.

In May 2018, the Board remanded the claim for entitlement to service connection for PTSD for further development. Following the remand, in an April 2019 rating decision, the RO granted service connection for PTSD. The Board finds that this grant of service connection constitutes a full award of the benefit sought on appeal with respect to this issue.

Given the foregoing grant of benefits in the April 2019 rating decision, there is no case or controversy for the Board to adjudicate with respect to the original claim of entitlement to service connection for PTSD. Consequently, the claim is dismissed. See Grantham v. Brown, 114 F.3d 1156, 1158-59 (Fed. Cir. 1997); see also 38 U.S.C. § 7104; 38 C.F.R. § 20.101.
