REMANDED

Entitlement to a compensable rating for pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) is remanded.

REASONS FOR REMAND

The Veteran served on active duty from August 1972 to August 1976.  

This matter is on appeal before the Board of Veterans Appeals (Board) from a December 2015 rating decision of a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Regional Office (RO).

In May 2021, a Board hearing was held before the undersigned; a transcript of the hearing is of record.  

Entitlement to service connection for (PFB is remanded.

The Veteran most recently received a VA examination to assess the current severity of his service-connected pseudofolliculitis barbae (PFB) in July 2014.  More recently, he has alleged that the disability has worsened since the July 2014 VA examination.  Given the Veteran's allegation, he should be afforded an updated examination to assess the current severity of his PFB prior to final adjudication of this claim.  

The matter is REMANDED for the following action:

1. Obtain updated VA treatment records dated from March 2018.

2. Schedule the Veteran for an examination by an appropriate clinician to determine the current severity of his service-connected PFB.  The Veteran's claims file should be made available for review by the examiner.  The examiner should provide a full description of the disability and report all signs and symptoms necessary for evaluating the Veteran's disability under the rating criteria.
