Citation Nr: 21029176 Decision Date: 05/12/21 Archive Date: 05/12/21 DOCKET NO. 14-19 857 DATE: May 12, 2021 REMANDED Entitlement to an extraschedular total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) is remanded. REASONS FOR REMAND The Veteran had active service in the United States Marine Corps from May 1976 to May 1980. This matter comes before the Board of Veterans' Appeals (Board) on appeal from a November 2008 rating decision by a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Regional Office (RO); this case is in VA's legacy appeals system. In the records provided by the Social Security Administration, and in his February 2020 VA 21-8940, the Veteran listed his employment history as drywall hanger and salesperson/driver, with his last date of employment in August 2009. However, in April 2021 the Veteran told a VA examiner that he had been certified as a massage therapist and taught massage and reflexology. It is not clear when he was certified, when he began teaching, or whether he is still teaching. A remand is therefore necessary to obtain an updated employment history from the Veteran. The matter is REMANDED for the following action: 1. Request an up-to-date employment history from the Veteran. Specifically request clarification of his dates of certification in, and teaching of, massage and reflexology. 2. Readjudicate the Veteran's claim. L. M. BARNARD Veterans Law Judge Board of Veterans' Appeals Attorney for the Board Zimmerman, Micah The Board's decision in this case is binding only with respect to the instant matter decided. This decision is not precedential and does not establish VA policies or interpretations of general applicability. 38 C.F.R. § 20.1303.
