Citation Nr: 21042362 Decision Date: 07/12/21 Archive Date: 07/12/21 DOCKET NO. 17-03 294 DATE: July 12, 2021 REMANDED Service connection for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is remanded. REASONS FOR REMAND The Veteran served active duty from September 1979 to September 1982. In January 2020 and May 2020, the Veteran's attorney requested an additional 90 days to submit evidence. In May 2020, the Board granted the motion for extension. As the 90-day period extension of time has lapsed, the Board will proceed with review of the claim. Service connection for PTSD In May 2015, the Veteran identified relevant outstanding treatment records from Evan Army Community Hospital. It does not appear VA attempted to obtain these records or inform the Veteran that the records were unable to be obtained. A remand is required to allow VA to request these records. Additionally, the Veteran identified an additional in-service stressor involving getting stabbed, beaten, and put into a trunk. See April 2015 PTSD disability benefits questionaire (DBQ). A remand is required to allow VA to attempt to corroborate the Veteran's reported stressor. The matters are REMANDED for the following action: 1. Request the Veteran's treatment records from Evan Army Community Hospital. See May 2015 Authorization for Release of Information form. If more details are needed, contact the Veteran to request the information. If the records are unable to obtained, inform the Veteran and his representative. 2. Attempt to corroborate the Veteran's in-service stressor of getting stabbed, beaten, and put into a trunk. See April 2015 PTSD DBQ. If more details are needed, contact the Veteran to request the information. KELLI A. KORDICH Veterans Law Judge Board of Veterans' Appeals Attorney for the Board T. Winkler, Associate Counsel The Board's decision in this case is binding only with respect to the instant matter decided. This decision is not precedential and does not establish VA policies or interpretations of general applicability. 38 C.F.R. § 20.1303.
