Adjusting to a New Mindset

Sometimes these kinds of behaviors are so well–ingrained in the Veteran that, from time to time, they can be difficult to change. Getting stuck in a mindset of being prepared for combat or being in a war zone has the potential to cause problems for Veterans as they adjust to a civilian life. Not all Veterans get stuck in this mindset, but it is important for supervisors to know that for some Veterans, some of these issues can show up in the workplace. By understanding reintegration issues in the context of military training, you can normalize the Veteran’s experience while also coaching the Veteran on adapting his skills and training to a new work environment.
