Mr. Joseph A. Sarzyniak serves as Public Affairs Officer for the VA Western New York Healthcare System (WNYHS) in Buffalo, NY.
In this role, he leads comprehensive communications efforts, develops outreach strategies, and serves as the primary liaison between WNYHS leadership, veteran service organizations, community stakeholders, and local media. Mr. Sarzyniak coordinates media interactions, manages internal and external communications, and oversees initiatives that promote the VA mission and programs.
With proven experience in public relations and organizational communications, Mr. Sarzyniak creates and distributes quarterly and bi-weekly newsletters, manages podcasts for staff engagement, and provides media training and resources to speakers. He regularly advises senior VA leadership on public affairs strategy, organizes events for visitors and dignitaries, and is responsible for crisis and reputation management throughout the WNYHS geographic catchment area.
Previously, Mr. Sarzyniak was Housekeeping Supervisor for the Western New York Veterans Medical Center, managing sanitation operations and a large support staff. He is Yellow Belt certified in quality improvement and was recognized for best practices in process innovation and team development.
Mr. Sarzyniak holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Medaille College and Bachelor’s and Associate’s degrees in Hotel/Restaurant Management from Johnson and Wales University. His leadership and communications skills have significantly enhanced staff and stakeholder engagement across VA WNYHS.
Mr. Sarzyniak served in the United States Navy 1991-1995.
