United Way of the Plains applauds Dole VA social worker Danielle Brummett

At the monthly meeting of the Coalition to End Homelessness in Wichita and Sedgwick County last week, the Dole VA Homeless team was praised for their hard work and successes toward helping unhoused Veterans to secure shelter.
Homeless Outreach social worker Danielle Brummett (nee Alderson) was singled out on United Way of the Plains’ Facebook page for her passion in helping others keep their time spent unhoused both very brief and very rare.
“We learned a bit about her day-to-day work, which includes conducting outreach, managing hotlines, performing consults, running group sessions, and completing client intakes,” the post reported.
“Her co-workers say she is super-human with such a high task load. And we say thank you.”
Social worker Maegan Carlsten is one of those co-workers, and she echoed the statement shared by United Way of the Plains.
“Danielle truly exemplifies the Dole VA mission,” Carlsten said. “Her heart has always been in social work and she knows no bounds when it comes to care. The way she advocates and cares for Veterans is inspiring.”
Co-worker Jeff Friedlander said, “She shows an unconditional positive regard by focusing on strengths and solutions, oftentimes in stressful and complex situations.”
For her part, Brummett sees herself as one of many people in her department who give their all every day.
“We have a great team,” she said. “In fact, we have an amazing team. I love my work so much because I love my team.”
