This year, the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) will host the first-ever statewide conference for the 43,000+ women veterans who live, work and play in Michigan. After two years of socially distancing and pausing in-person interaction and events, it is time to come together in our community of women veterans and learn about advocacy — particularly self-advocacy and community advocacy.
Join us June 10–11, 2022, and build friendships, sisterhood and learn how to get the benefits you have earned and deserve. At this conference you’ll learn:
- How to advocate for your mental and physical health.
- How to advocate for others by learning how to run for office in your local community or apply for a commission or board.
- How to advocate for yourself in your job and get that raise or promotion.
This conference is jam packed with content, networking and tools to take your life up a notch!
Event Schedule:
June 9: There will be an optional mixer to break the ice in the evening at the Radisson Hotel; (food and drinks are not provided).
June 10: Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided at the venue. A full day of sessions with two tracks — Whole Health and Career Promotion, a dynamic keynote speaker and a panel from the She is A Veteran series. Vendor tables will be set up to browse in between sessions. Dinner and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided at the Lansing Brewing Company, with a cash bar option and cornhole! After dinner we will head over to the cozy Studio @ 414 for a few hours of storytelling. We will have charcuterie boards for some late evening nibbles and a cash bar will be offered.
June 11: The conference ends with sunrise yoga and a few words from MVAA Director Zaneta Adams about the importance of Women Veterans Recognition Day.
