Place prescription refill two weeks prior to running out

Refill your prescriptions

Your VA health care benefits include prescription medicines and medical supplies prescribed by your VA health care team.

Prescription refills are processed through the Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) located out of Chicago.

We mail most prescription refills through the U.S. Postal Service. For medicines that need to be kept refrigerated, or certain types of medical supplies, we may send your order through FedEx or UPS.

What is a CMOP?

CMOPs are large mail order pharmacies located around the country that VA’s send their mail order prescriptions to be filled and sent to the patients. Each VA pharmacy processes prescriptions for filling and they are electronically transmitted to the CMOP each night to be processed.

CMOP service is significant because it helps local VA facilities adequately provide service to new, partial, or urgent prescriptions.

With our VA Prescription Refill and Tracking tool, you can refill your VA prescriptions, track their delivery, and create lists to organize your medicines.

Mail refills

A refill request form comes with every VA prescription filled. To refill your prescription by mail, complete the request form and mail it to your VA pharmacy at the address listed on the paperwork that arrived with your prescription.

Note: Please do not drop off the form at the pharmacy when you pick up your new prescription. We can’t process refill requests on the same day that new prescriptions are picked up.

Important refill information

Veterans are highly encouraged to order refills at least two weeks before running out of medication.

Pick up new prescriptions

The Erie VAMC Outpatient Pharmacy is for new, partial, or emergency prescriptions only.

We ask that you don't try to refill prescriptions in person, so our pharmacists can focus on providing care to Veterans with urgent needs and new prescriptions. Refills are only available online, by phone, or mail.

"Quickly got a PCR test and + result. I agreed to take Paxlovid ordered by Dr. Russo-Colt. I used the contactless pickup at the VA. The pharmacist brought it out to my car and explained to me how to take it. The pharmacist also called the next day to go over the procedure and to inquire if I had any questions, side effects and what to do if I did. I really appreciated their efficiency and concern."
