| Summary: | The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, OIG provided crime awareness briefings to 85 employees. This review focused on nine operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following six activities: (1) coordination of care, (2) environment of care, (3) medication management, (4) nurse staffing, (5) point-of-care testing, and (6) QM. The facility’s reported accomplishments were starting a “Women of Valor” group to provide an opportunity for outpatient female veterans to meet and network and starting an audiology walk-in clinic to improve access for veterans whose hearing aids needed minor adjustment and/or cleaning. OIG made recommendations for improvement in the following three activities: (1) colorectal cancer screening, (2) mental health treatment continuity, and (3) polytrauma. |
