Reminder: Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) Deadline January 31, 2020

On December 5, 2019, a new SSVF NOFA has been published in the Federal Register. This NOFA provides funding opportunities to renew existing grants. This NOFA is competitive, and applicants are urged to closely review the NOFA and the associated training available on the SSVF website by using the link below.  The principal goal of this NOFA is to provide support to those applicants who demonstrate the greatest capacity to end homelessness through the adoption of evidence-based practices likely to lead to reductions in homelessness.  Scoring criteria are described in 38 CFR 62.21, 62.23, and 62.24. Awards are for services to begin October 1, 2020. Applications are due no later than January 31, 2020 at 4pm EST. Please contact SSVF@va.gov if you have questions.

Applications can be accessed on the SSVF website using the link below:

Note:  SSVF programs with multi-year awards with project periods ending after 9/30/20 are not required to submit a renewal application; however, these programs must submit a Letter of Intent Requirement indicating the agency’s desire to continue program operations in FY 2021.   The Letter of Intent Requirement form will request multi-year grantees to also provide proof of continued accreditation, a FY 2021 budget (Application Exhibits I-III), Executive Director Certification of Community Planning and a CoC letter of support.  The CoC letter must contain detail described in Section II.C.8 of NOFA.  Priority 3 applicants must submit a Letter of Intent requirement for each award, with an annual budget, Executive Director Certification of Community Planning and a CoC letter of support.  The SSVF online grants management system (GIFTS) contains Requirement forms for these grantees.  Please refer to the SSVF website to download the FY2021 Budget Template (Application Exhibits I-III) and sample Executive Director Certification template. Letter of Intent Requirements are due no later than January 31, 2020 at 4 pm EST.  Please contact SSVF@va.gov if you have questions.

Announcement: SSVF Winter/Spring Regional Meetings

The SSVF Program Office is pleased to announce upcoming SSVF Regional Meeting to be held in February and March 2020 at various locations. These day-long meetings will be specifically targeted to direct service staff and case managers and will focus on the core practices and service strategies of SSVF. Grantees are strongly encouraged to prioritize case managers and other direct care staff to attend this training. In an effort to support as many SSVF direct service staff as possible, the Program Office is allowing each grantee to send up to four staff to these events. We also encourage grantees to consider sending relevant staff from subcontractors. Registration information will be sent to grantees in the next few weeks.  Hotel and logistics information will be sent after registration; grantees are encouraged to book travel that allows staff to stay at meeting until 4:30pm on the day of the training even if that means the person would leave the following day.

Update: Rapid Resolution Compliance Guide and FAQ Documents

The SSVF Program Office has released an updated version of the Rapid Resolution Compliance Guide and FAQ document.   These documents were developed to help grantees understand how to integrate Rapid Resolution services into their SSVF programs and to provide grantees with guidance on enrollment principles, documentation standards, use of temporary financial assistance, and HMIS data entry requirements.  The FAQ document includes questions and answers from recent Rapid Resolution trainings and “office hours” calls.

The Rapid Resolution Documents can be located on the SSVF website using the link below:
