Find out how to refill your prescriptions, where to pick up new prescription orders, and how to safely dispose of your medications at the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System. Our pharmacists are here to help with any inquiries regarding your medications, including side effects, interactions, and proper usage. Refill your prescriptions
Your VA health care benefits encompass prescription medications and medical supplies prescribed by your VA health care team.
Make sure to request your refills at least 10 days prior to running out of your supply!
The majority of prescription refills are mailed via the U.S. Postal Service. However, for medications that require refrigeration or specific medical supplies, we may utilize FedEx or UPS for delivery.
Track Your Prescriptions on My HealtheVet
You can conveniently monitor the delivery of your VA prescriptions online using the VA Prescription Refill and Tracking tool available in My HealtheVet.
- Log in to My HealtheVet.
- Click on the Pharmacy tab.
- Select Prescription Refill and Tracking.
- A list of your VA prescriptions will be displayed. Click “Track Delivery” next to the prescription you wish to follow.
Note: Most prescriptions are shipped using USPS, and tracking information may not be available until the package has been scanned.

Mail back the refill request form that comes with your prescription to the provided address.
Note: Please don’t drop off the form at the pharmacy when you pick up your new prescription. We can’t process refill requests on the same day that new prescriptions are picked up.

Refills are only available online, by phone or mail.

Curbside Prescription Pickup
We are proud to offer curbside prescription pickup — a unique service within VA — to make it easier and more convenient for Veterans to receive their new medications.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Report a Lost or Stolen Prescription
If your medication has been lost, stolen, or damaged, reach out to your VA pharmacy as soon as possible.
To report a lost or stolen prescription:

Have your VA identification and prescription number on hand, if possible.
Your pharmacy team will evaluate the request and may need to discuss it with your provider to authorize a replacement. For controlled substances, additional procedures may be necessary, or they may not be eligible for replacement.
Receiving Controlled Substances
Certain prescriptions, particularly controlled substances, may come with more stringent rules regarding refills or mailing. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist will offer guidance on how to safely receive and store these medications.
Safely dispose of your medicine
Drop off your expired or unwanted medicine at a MedSafe box. Disposing of your medicines safely can help protect other people as well as the environment.
