Joanna Weber

Joanna A. Weber serves as Interim Executive Director of the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System, based at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville. She brings more than 19 years of Department of Veterans Affairs leadership experience in health care operations, administration, and human resources.

Prior to serving as Interim Executive Director, Ms. Weber served as Associate Director and Assistant Director for the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System. She also completed a detail as Interim Deputy Network Director for Health Service Area 2.1 within Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 2, supporting seven VA medical centers and 34 associated sites of care across North Carolina and Virginia.

Throughout her leadership career, Ms. Weber has overseen a broad range of administrative and support functions, including fiscal management, logistics, health administration, facility management, nutrition and food services, police, safety, prosthetics, the Center for Development and Civic Engagement, human resources, the Office of Information and Technology, and Veterans Canteen Service.

Ms. Weber began her VA career in 2007 at the VA Pittsburgh Health Care System, where she held positions in behavioral health and community-based care before transitioning to human resources. She began her human resources career as a Workforce Development Specialist and advanced through a variety of leadership roles, to include a detail as Acting Chief Human Resources Officer for the former VISN 6. In 2019, she joined the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System as a Human Resources Officer and continued to advance into leadership positions leading to her current role as Interim Executive Director.

Weber holds a bachelor's degree in biology, with a minor in psychology, from Chatham University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association and is a Certified Specialist Business Intelligence.
