By Vance Janes, Public Affairs Officer

Dr. Jacobs completed her Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2011 at St. John’s University in Queens, New York and subsequently enrolled and completed a Master’s in Clinical Psychology.

She worked in a psychiatric hospital for two years before deciding to finish her academic journey and completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2019 from Regent University in Virginia Beach.  During the last year of her program, she matched at the Salisbury VAMC for internship and has called North Carolina home ever since.

During Dr. Jacobs time at her previous VA site, she trained to specialize in treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and EBP’s for recovery-oriented care. She has experience with BHIP, PRRC and RRTP for PTSD VA programs.

Dr. Jacobs was one of the supervisory psychologists on the PTSD Clinical Team for the past three years and held roles on the Minority Veterans Committee, Couples & Family Therapy Team and Psychology Training Committee – all to contribute to improving best practices for Veteran care and clinician growth.

In her spare time she enjoy being with family and friends, baking and getting outdoors to explore across North Carolina from the mountains to the beach. She and her husband welcomed their first child last year and have one dog named Cannoli, both who keeping them on their toes daily!

Dr. Jacobs is excited and honored to continue serving our Veterans in her new position as Mental Health Section Chief and is looking forward to working with her team at the Hickory CBOC!
