Atlanta VA Health Care System holds ribbon cutting ceremony for Pike County VA Clinic
The new multi-specialty outpatient clinic offers peace of mind for local Veterans.
Cloudy skies and drizzling rain didn’t dampen a celebratory spirit, as the Atlanta VA HealthCare System held a grand-opening ceremony with a ribbon cutting, for its new Pike County VA clinic on April 13, 2023.
Atlanta VAHCS Director, Ann Brown, welcomed all in attendance and emphasized the importance of expanding healthcare access for Veterans.
The new multi-specialty outpatient clinic offers peace of mind for local Veterans, like Louis Matthews, who served in the Navy. “For us older vets, it is much more convenient when you can receive medical care closer to home. I like it,” said Matthews. “It’s a really nice facility."
State and local representatives, community partners, as well as Veterans and VA staff, were all on hand to support the event. Additionally, the Pike County High School Band and American Legion Post 197 Color Guard graced the guests, with a presentation of colors and National Anthem performance.
The event included an information fair for the PACT Act (Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics) - to help Veterans apply for benefits, complete toxic exposure screenings and enroll in VA health care. There were also resources available for Suicide Prevention, Women’s Veteran’s health, Caregiver Support Program, Military2VA program, and Transportation services.
