Friday: VA Augusta White Cane Safety Day to spread awareness of local blind rehabilitation services

AUGUSTA, Ga. — This Friday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the VA Augusta Health Care System Blind Rehabilitation team will be at our Downtown campus (950 15th Street in Augusta), spreading awareness about the significance of White Cane Safety Day. Expect multiple demonstrations showcasing the services available through VA Augusta and in the community for those who are blind or visually impaired.

VA Augusta’s Blind Rehabilitation Center will feature these activities during the event:

  • Visual Skills (Optical Recognition Device) demonstration
  • Orientation and Mobility blindfold demonstration
  • Living Skills demonstration
  • Adaptative Visual Skills
  • Activities of Daily living
  • Food tastings that stimulate the senses
