VA Augusta to host Innovation Summit, showcasing Veteran healthcare innovations and collaborations

Augusta , GA — VA Augusta Health Care System is proud to announce its inaugural Innovation Summit

– Driving Innovation Forward - a premier event bringing together healthcare
professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry experts to showcase cutting-edge
innovations and collaborations in Veteran health care 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday, July
25, on the 3rd Floor of VA Augusta’s Uptown campus at 1 Freedom Way in Augusta.

"We are excited to host this inaugural Innovation Summit, which represents a significant
milestone in our efforts to foster innovation and collaboration in local Veteran
healthcare," said Kelsey Shull, VA Augusta Innovation Specialist. "Our goal is to bring
together the best minds in healthcare to share knowledge, ideas, and best practices,
ultimately benefiting our Veteran patients and the community we serve."
The Driving Innovation Forward summit will feature a series of presentations,
workshops, and exhibitions of innovative projects being implemented at VA Augusta,
including:
• An anti-fall device that prevents tripping in patients with
weakness in their lower extremities by using the repelling
power of magnets
• A male contraceptive initiative that aims to close the gap
between men and women in reproductive planning and
responsibility
• XanderGlasses that translate speech into text and display
captions of what others nearby are saying for hearing-impaired
