Bay Pines VA and National Cemetery Celebrate 90 Years

“When we began exploring how we were going to celebrate this 90-year milestone, two words came to mind – ‘legacy’ and ‘service’,” said Paul M. Russo, Bay Pines VA Healthcare System CEO. “The Veterans, their care givers, our community partners, and our staff who took the time to attend today’s event reflected how central those values are to all we do at Bay Pines VA.”

Representative Kathy Castor (FL-14) served as the keynote speaker and cited the original catalyst for the event; acting in service of our Nation’s heroes. Additional speakers for the event included the VISN 8 Deputy Network Director, Ms. Verana E. Richardson, Bay Pines National Cemetery Director Mr. Douglas Maddox, and Ms. Beverly Young, wife of late Florida Congressman C.W. “Bill” Young.

“Today’s show of support demonstrated just how committed our staff and community are to serving our Veterans” added Maddox. “It is my greatest honor to provide a final resting place for the men and women who have served our country. I’m grateful for the opportunity to honor Veterans of today and yesterday for their selfless service to our Nation.”
